The Quitman Athletic Booster Club is off and running for the 2017-2018 school year. The boosters are a volunteer organization made up of parents, grandparents, administrators and community members of Quitman High School and Quitman Junior High Athletes.
Booster volunteers work throughout the year to promote and assist the athletic department as needed. The booster club raises funds through membership fees, merchandise sales and concession sales. Each year the club sets a list of goals and the 2017-2018 goals are weight room upgrades, volleyball poles to support the net in the gym, basketball returner for practices in the gym and industrial washer and dryer for the girls’ athletics.
“One of the biggest goals is to continue the distribution of two, $1,000 college scholarships at the end of the year to senior athletes,” club member Brandi Box said. “We have many volunteer opportunities and would love to have your help and support. You can contact the booster club via Facebook.”
The next event where you can find a booster member is at Meet the Teacher at Quitman Elementary School Thursday Aug. 24 at 5 p.m. There will be membership information available as well as new tee shirts and hats for this year. They will also sell “bleacher creature” tee shirts. With the purchase of the shirts, any child that is wearing one will get in free to all home football games with a paid adult.
