Panthers take bronze team finish at CH Invitational Powerlifting Meet

The Bullard Panther powerlifting team returned to action last week, as the teams traveled the short distance to Tyler to compete in the Chapel Hill Invitational Powerlifting Meet, held Thursday, Feb. 9, at Chapel Hill High School.

The Panther powerlifting team proved to be one of the strongest teams at the Chapel Hill Invitational Powerlifting Meet, taking home a third place team finish with a score of 20 points, beating out several local teams, including West Rusk, Lindale, and Tyler Robert E. Lee.

In the 114 pound weight class, Landon Warren took home a second place finish with a squat of 205 pounds, bench press of 115 pounds, and deadlift of 235 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 555 pounds.

Damion Brown represented the Panthers in the 148 pound weight class, placing second with a squat of 435 pounds, bench press of 265 pounds, and deadlift of 355 pounds, for a total amount lifted of 1,055 pounds.

Josh Mascola also competed for the Panthers in the 148 pound weight class competition, taking home ninth place with a squat of 320 pounds, bench press of 210 pounds, and deadlift of 350 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 880 pounds.

Wrapping up the 148 pound weight class for the Panthers was Dakota Simmons, who placed 16th with a squat of 240 pounds, bench press of 140 pounds, and deadlift of 250 pounds, for a total amount lifted of 630 pounds.

In the 165 pound weight class, Steven Hibbard took home the first place finish with a squat of 400 pounds, bench press of 225 pounds, and deadlift of 385 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 1,010 pounds.

Cade Hollingsworth also represented the Panthers in the 165 pound weight class, finishing sixth with a squat of 290 pounds, bench press of 175 pounds, and deadlift of 330 pounds, for a total amount lifted of 795 pounds.

In the 181 pound weight class, Reece Ricketts placed fourth with a squat of 415 pounds, bench press of 285 pounds, and deadlift of 405 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 1,105 pounds.

Also competing for the Panthers in the 181 pound weight class were Taye McCurley and David Simmons. McCurley took home 11th place with a squat of 365 pounds, bench press of 225 pounds, and deadlift of 345 pounds, for a total amount lifted of 935 pounds, while Simmons finished 12th with a squat of 315 pounds, bench press of 215 pounds, and deadlift of 400 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 930 pounds.

In the 198 pound weight class, Camron Bridges took home 15th place with a squat of 325 pounds, bench press of 210 pounds, and deadlift of 275 pounds, for a total amount lifted of 810 pounds.

Thomas Brooks was the highest Panther finisher in the 220 pound weight class, finishing in third place with a squat of 450 pounds, bench press of 335 pounds, and deadlift of 465 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 1,250 pounds.

Jose Oliveras and Lawson Barker also represented the Panthers in the 220 pound weight class. Oliveras placed ninth with a squat of 405 pounds, bench press of 275 pounds, and deadlift of 405 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 1,085 pounds, while Barker finished 10th with a squat of 385 pounds, bench press of 305 pounds, and deadlift of 345 pounds, for a total amount lifted of 1,035 pounds.

In the 242 pound weight class, Travis Huffman took home an eighth place finish with a squat of 350 pounds, bench press of 195 pounds, and deadlift of 315 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 315 pounds.

John Campbell and Devin Lewis were the Panthers’ competitors in the Super Heavy Weight weight class. Campbell placed second with a squat of 640 pounds, bench press of 375 pounds, and deadlift of 425 pounds, for a total amount lifted of 1,440 pounds. Lewis finished sixth with a squat of 405 pounds, bench press of 275 pounds, and deadlift of 400 pounds, for a total weight lifted of 1,080 pounds.

The results for the Bullard Lady Panther powerlifting team were unable at the time of publication. Results for the Lady Panthers will be published when the information becomes available.
