Panthers fall short against Spring Hill, Palestine in recent soccer matchups

The Bullard Panther varsity soccer team resumed play in their 2018 schedule last week, as the team traveled to take on the Spring Hill Panthers Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Spring Hill High School.

In the jungle cat battle between Bullard and Spring Hill, both teams found offensive success during regulation, as the contest was tied, 3-3, at the end of time, forcing the game into penalty kicks.

Despite the visiting Bullard having success with their own penalty kick opportunities, the home team Spring Hill was able to sneak more balls into the goal, as Spring Hill defeated Bullard, 7-5, in penalty kicks.

Leading the prowl for Bullard against Spring Hill was senior midfielder (captain) Will McCowin, collecting a total of three goals in the contest for the first ever hat trick in the team’s history.

Also collecting goals in the contest between Bullard and Spring Hill were senior forward Isaac Higginbotham and freshman midfielder Christian Moore, both collecting goals in penalty kics.

Bullard players collecting assists in the matchup against Spring Hill included Moore and sophomore midfielder Christian Johnson, while defensive standouts for the team included junior defender Brett Timme and senior defender Nick Calhoon.

Bullard Panthers 0, Palestine

Wildcats 8, FINAL

After the narrow loss to the Spring Hill Panthers, the Bullard Panther varsity soccer team returned home to Bullard’s Panther Stadium for a bout against the Palestine Wildcats Friday, Jan. 12.

Despite a solid effort by the Panthers in the contest, the team faced a tough challenge from a solid team in the Wildcats, as Palestine claimed the win over Bullard, 8-0.

Currently, the Bullard Panther varsity soccer team holds an overall record of 0-3 on the 2018 season.

Next week: Tuesday, Jan. 16 – Waskom at Bullard; Friday, Jan. 19 – John Tyler at Bullard.
