Panther soccer ends inaugural season with split against Lindale JV, Waskom

Bullard Panthers 4, Lindale Eagles (JV) 3, FINAL

The Bullard Panther varsity soccer team continued to make their way through the 2018 schedule last week, as the team began by hosting a matchup against the Lindale Eagles junior varsity team Monday, March 5, at Bullard’s Panther Stadium.

The home team Bullard had a strong offensive prowl about them in the matchup against Lindale, as the Panthers prowled down the field with purpose, putting a total of four kicks into the Eagles’ net.

Defensively, Bullard held strong, pressuring Lindale to make several mistakes throughout the contest. Despite the Panthers’ defensive stance, the Eagles soared to score a total of three goals in the contest.

At the final buzzer, the defensive efforts of Bullard stood strong, as the Panthers claimed the win against the Eagles’ junior varsity team, 4-3.

Senior midfielder Will McCowin proved to be valuable for the Panthers in the contest against the Lindale junior varsity team, as McCowin kicked in all four goals scored by the Panthers, while freshman midfielder Antonio Medina was credited with one assist in the game.

In goal for Bullard, sophomore goalkeepers Pedro Rodriguez and Caleb Carmichael both proved to be solid defensively, collecting a total of four saves each.

Bullard Panthers 5, Waskom Wildcats 6, FINAL

To close out the 2018 season, the Bullard Panther varsity soccer team loaded the bus for their final game, traveling to take on the Waskom Wildcats Friday, March 9, at Waskom High School.

The offensive attack of the Panthers was on full display in the first half of play against the Wildcats, as Bullard put a total of five kicks into the Waskom net, compared to one goal scored by the Wildcats against the Panthers.

In the second half, the Wildcats scratched and clawed their way back into the contest, netting a total of five goals, while using their defensive efforts to keep the Panthers scoreless, as Waskom came from behind to defeat Bullard, 6-5.

With a record of 1-1 last week, the Bullard Panther varsity soccer team finished the 2018 season, the team’s inaugural campaign, with an overall record of 5-13-1.
