Well, the rain has gotten to me. I love that we have it and our lakes are full and the grass is green. But it sure is good weather to curl up and take a nap. I’m jealous of Chessie the cat being able to take advantage of this.
We had eclipse glasses but they went quickly. Couldn’t believe it. Hope everyone caught a glimpse of this event. We had a program at summer school trying to show the children the eclipse is a little optical illusion as the moon is so much smaller than the sun and how at just the right moment, the moon appears to be big enough to cover the sun and cast that shadow. The children were great using their imagination with a very large orange beach ball (the sun), a tennis ball (the moon), and a small blue ball (the earth).
We are working our way through the library completing inventory. It is really going very well. A little off schedule but we should finish close to our goal deadline. Gives us a chance to see what we have and what might be missing. So far we have more found than we have missing - always a plus.
September will bring our fall programs. We will run that list in our next column. Know that we will be bringing back After School and PreSchool Story Time. American Girls will remain on the second Saturday with a strict deadline of the Wednesday before the meeting to sign up. We are looking to add several programs and their descriptions are being devised now. Remember parents: you are responsible for your children at all times and in all places in the library. This means being aware of where your children are at all times and what they are doing.
