Lady Panther soccer picks up win against Palestine, falls to Chapel Hill

Bullard Lady Panthers 2, Palestine Lady Wildcats 1, FINAL

Prowling back onto the field of play last week was the Bullard Lady Panther varsity soccer team, as the team loaded the bus and traveled to compete in a district affair against the Palestine Lady Wildcats Monday, March 5, at Palestine High School.

The Lady Panthers proved to be hungry offensively in the matchup against the Lady Wildcats, as Bullard had success with their ball movement throughout the contest, capped off by a total of two kicks by the Lady Panthers finding their way into the Lady Wildcats’ goal.

Sizing up the competition, the Lady Wildcats fought hard to push the ball up the field against the Lady Panthers, as Palestine was able to score one goal against Bullard.

At the final buzzer, Bullard’s strong offensive and defensive efforts allowed them to pounce on Palestine and claim the district win, 2-1.

Goals scored by Bullard in the contest against Palestine were attributed to Kaitlyn Nash (penalty kick) and Kaitlynn Henics, with the team’s lone assist provided by Sara McKeethan.

Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs 2, FINAL

In their second battle of last week, the Bullard Lady Panther varsity soccer team prowled its way back home to the friendly confines of Panther Stadium to host a district bout against the Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs Friday, March 9.

The Lady Panthers looked to move their way up the district ranks, as the team produced several successful prowls down the field. However, Bullard was unable to get the ball past the Chapel Hill goalie and into the net, despite several attempts throughout the game.

The visiting Chapel Hill team proved to be a tough opponent for the home team Bullard throughout the very physical matchup, as a total of two of the Lady Bulldogs’ kicks found the inside of the net, allowing Chapel Hill to claim the district win against Bullard, 2-0.

With a record of 0-1 last week, the Bullard Lady Panther varsity soccer team currently holds an overall record of 9-8-3, 3-3 in district play, on the 2018 season.

Next week: Monday, March 12 – Cumberland Academy at Bullard.
