Lady Guard miss playoffs finish with 4-8-1 record

The Brook Hill Lady Guard varsity soccer team returned to action last week, as the team faced off in a district battle against the Bishop Gorman Lady Crusaders for Brook Hill’s annual Senior Night contest, held Monday, Jan. 29, at Brook Hill’s Herrington Stadium at Young Field.

Despite their best efforts throughout the contest, the home team Lady Guard was unable to match the offensive intensity of the visiting Lady Crusaders, as Bishop Gorman put five kicks into Brook Hill’s net, allowing the Lady Crusaders to claim the district win against the Lady Guard, 5-0.

Brook Hill Lady Guard 1, All Saints Lady Trojans 3, FINAL

After suffering the loss against the Bishop Gorman Lady Crusaders, the Brook Hill Lady Guard varsity soccer team traveled the short distance to Tyler for their final district contest, facing off against the All Saints Lady Trojans, Thursday, Feb. 1, at All Saints High School.

While the Lady Guard was able to put the ball past the goalie for one goal in the game, the Lady Trojans proved to have a strong offensive attack, as All Saints kicked in three goals en route to claiming the district win over Brook Hill, 3-1.

The lone goal netted by the Lady Guard in the contest against the Lady Trojans was attributed to Morgan Carpenter, with the assist credited to Emy Rose.

With a 0-2 record last week, the Brook Hill Lady Guard varsity soccer team finished the 2017-2018 season with an overall record of 4-8-1, 0-6 in district play, causing the Lady Guard to miss the playoff cut, according to head coach Becky Knight.
