These images of the solar eclipse on Monday were shot by Casey Bright, son of Gary Bright and grandson of the late Gene Bright. Dad Gary says he set the camera and Casey stopped by the office and took the shots through his welder’s helmet. Astronomer Paul Shaw’s forecasts of the timing of the event’s beginning, peak and completion were spot on. Another solar eclipse is forecast to occur in 2024.

During the solar eclipse Monday crescents were supposed to be visible through a criss-cross grid made with one’s fingers. They also appeared filtered through tree leaves in the shadows on the patio. (Monitor photo by Doris Newman)
