Bullard ISD athletics announces details for upcoming summer camps

The Bullard Independent School District’s athletic department has recently released details regarding athletic camps during the upcoming summer months.

Panther Summer Strength and Conditioning Camp:

The annual Bullard Panther Summer Strength and Conditioning Camp will take place Mondays through Thursdays starting Monday, June 11, at Bullard High School’s Panther Stadium and

Weeks of the Bullard Panther Summer Strength and Conditioning Camp will include June 11-14, June 18-21, June 25-28, July 9-12, July 16-19, and July 23-26. The camp will not meet the week of Independence Day (Monday through Thursday, July 2-5).

During the Monday through Thursday workouts, male athletes in 10th through 12th grades will take part from 7:15-9 a.m., while males in seventh through ninth grades will participate from 8:15-9:45 a.m. Additionally, female athletes from seventh through 12th grades will work out from 9-10 a.m.

The Panther weight room facility will be open for Bullard athletes and alumni starting 9-11 a.m. Monday through Thursday, June 4-7. The weight room will also be open to athletes and alumni from 5-6:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays during the camp schedule, as well as 7:30-9 a.m. on Fridays during the summer.

There is no registration fee for the annual Bullard Panther Summer Strength and Conditioning Camp.

Athletes participating in the summer program will be working towards the start of the annual two-a-day practices, as volleyball practices are slated to start Wednesday, Aug. 1, while football practices are scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 6.

Bullard Lady Panther Soccer:

The newly created Bullard Lady Panther soccer program will host its inaugural summer camp Monday through Thursday, June 4-7, at Panther Stadium.

The camp will be divided into two sessions based on grade levels in the 2018-2019 school year. Campers entering third through sixth grades will participate in the camp from 4-6 p.m., while athletes in seventh through ninth grades will take part from 6-8 p.m.

According to the camp flyer, the first session will work on basic ball skills and apply them towards small sided games. Older campers attending the second session will focus on strategy games and what it takes to be a team player.

Campers are encouraged to wear T-shirts, athletic shorts, and tennis shoes. Cleats and shin guards are allowed at the camp if owned by the athlete.

Costs for the inaugural Bullard Lady Panther soccer camp is $50 for session one and $60 for session two. A camp ball will be included in the price of registration if forms are received by Monday, May 28 for both sessions.

Lady Panther

Basketball:

The Bullard Lady Panther basketball program will host the annual lady Panther Basketball Camp Monday through Thursday, June 4-7, inside the BHS gymnasium.

According to the flyer, the purpose of the Lady Panther Basketball Camp is to learn both individual and team basketball skills, as well as an emphasis on fundamentals as well as team play. Coaches for the camp will include the Lady Panther basketball program coaches.

The Lady Panther Basketball Camp will meet in two different sessions, with seventh through ninth grade participants meeting from 9-11:30 a.m., while athletes entering third through sixth grade will take part in the camp from 1-2:30 p.m. All grade levels will be for the 2018-2019 school year.

Cost for the camp will be $40 for grades three through six, and $55 for participants in grades seven through nine. Camp registration payments will include the cost of a camp T-shirt. Registration forms and payment can be mailed to Barry Gill, 156 Baganie Ln., Bullard, Tex, 75757.

Lady Panther

Volleyball:

The Bullard Lady Panther volleyball program will host its annual summer camp Monday through Thursday, June 11-14, at the Bullard Middle School gymnasium.

Campers will participate in a total of two sessions, including Session One for athletes entering seventh and eighth grades from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., and Session Two for third through sixth graders from 1-3 p.m. All grade levels will be for the 2018-2019 school year.

According to the camp flyer, Lady Panther varsity volleyball head coach, the purpose of the camp is to learn basic individual and team skills such as passing, setting, hitting, serving, and defense.

Athletes are asked to wear appropriate clothing, including no jeans, jean shorts, halter tops, or spaghetti strap shirts. Kneepads are recommended for athletes participating.

The Session One camp will cost $60, while the Session Two camp will cost $50, including the cost for a camp T-shirt.

The Lady Panther volleyball program will also hold a camp for incoming 2018-2019 ninth grade athletes, to be held Monday through Wednesday, July 16-18, at the BHS gymnasium. Cost for the ninth grade camp will be $60.

Lady Panther Softball:

The annual Lady Panther softball summer camp will be held Monday through Wednesday, June 18-20 at the BHS Softball Field.

Campers will be divided into two sessions for the Lady Panther softball camp, including a session for students entering third through sixth grade from 9-11:30 a.m., and athletes entering seventh through ninth grade participating from 1-3:30 p.m. All grade levels will be for the 2018-2019 school year.

According to the flyer, the camp will provide strong emphasis on the fundamentals of softball, including hitting, throwing, fielding, and base running. Coaches for the camp will include Dobrinski and the Bullard softball coaching staff, as well as former Lady Panther softball players.

Cost for the camp will be $50 for session one and $60 for session two, including the cost of a camp T-shirt. Athletes are encouraged to bring a bat, glove, helmet, and water.

Panther Basketball:

The Bullard Panther basketball program is hosting its annual summer camp Monday through Thursday, June 18-21, at the BHS gymnasium.

The camp will take place in a total of two sessions, with incoming first through fourth graders participating from 9-11 a.m., while athletes entering fifth through ninth grades taking part from 12:30-2:30 p.m. All grade levels will be for the 2018-2019 school year.

Cost for the camp will be $50 per camper, $90 for two siblings, and a family maximum registration payment of $125. Included in the cost of the camp will be a camp T-shirt and possible earned rewards. Registration forms received after Tuesday, June 12 will be assessed a $15 late fee.

Attendees are encouraged to bring shorts, comfortable shoes, a basketball, and something to drink or money to purchase drinks.

Panther Baseball:

The Bullard Panther baseball program will hold its annual summer camp Monday through Thursday, June 25-27 at the BHS Baseball Field.

The camp will be split into two sections, with a session for students entering third through sixth grade meeting from 9-11:30 a.m., while the second session for students entering seventh through ninth grades will participate from 1-3:30 p.m. All grade levels will be for the 2018-2019 school year.

Running the Bullard Baseball summer camp will be the Bullard Panther coaching staff, led by head coach Brock Lemire, as well as several of the program’s former members.

Registration for the camp will be $50 for session one and $60 for session two, which will include the cost of a camp T-shirt. Attendees are encouraged to bring a glove, bat, helmet, and water.

Tennis:

The Bullard tennis program will host athletes at its annual summer camp Monday through Thursday, June 25-28, at the Bullard ISD tennis courts.

Athletes will take part in a total of two sessions, with Kindergarten through second graders taking part in session one from 10-11 a.m., while campers in third through sixth grades will participate from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. All grade levels will be for the 2018-2019 school year.

According to the camp flyer, students will work on developing basic tennis strokes, along with hand-eye coordination, footwork, racket control, and ball judgment, as well as scorekeeping and basic point play.

The camp will observe Friday, June 29 as a designated rain/bad weather make-up day.

Panther Soccer:

Like its female counterpart, the Bullard Panther varsity soccer team will host its inaugural camp Monday through Wednesday, July 9-11, at Panther Stadium.

The camp will meet in two sessions, with athletes in first through fifth grades will participate from 9-10:30 a.m., while campers in sixth through ninth grades will take part from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. All grade levels will be for the 2018-2019 school year.

According to the flyer, some of the skills to be taught to athletes include flexibility program, speed improvement, agility drills, individual skill development, tactical knowledge, small-sided progression, and full sixed games depending on age groups/size.

The goal of the camp is to expose the players to a positive atmosphere where they can gain knowledge of the game, have fun, and become acquainted with the coaching staff and the soccer program.

Each camper should wear comfortable clothing, cleats, and sunscreen, as well as bring their own water bottle.

Registration for the camp will cost $30 before Wednesday, May 30, or $35 afterwards. Each camper will receive a camp ball.

Panther Football

(K-Eighth Grade)

The Bullard Panther football program will also host a camp for all incoming athletes from Kindergarten through eighth grade from 7:30-9 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday, July 31-Aug. 2, at BHS’s Panther Stadium. All grade levels will be for the 2018-2019 school year.

The camp registration form states that the camp will offer a great opportunity for players to begin learning and improving basic football fundamentals, begin developing relationships with their future coaches, and build a family atmosphere within the team.

In addition, players will learn the offensive and defensive schemes, as well as the terminology used in the Panther football program from seventh grade through varsity levels.

The camp will focus on the areas of fundamentals, speed and agility, injury prevention, and goal setting and academics.

Cost for the Panther Football Camp for Kindergarten through eighth grade students will be $30, including the cost of the camp T-shirt.

Registration forms and payment are due by Tuesday, July 31, and can be mailed to Bullard Athletics, Attn: Coach Callaway, 1426 S. Houston St., Bullard, Tex., 75757.

Panther Football (Ninth Grade)

The Bullard Panther football camp exclusively for incoming ninth grade athletes will be held 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, July 31-Aug. 2, at Bullard Panther Stadium. All grade levels will be for the 2018-2019 school year.

According to camp information, the camp will offer a great opportunity for players to begin learning and improving basic football fundamentals, begin developing relationships with their future coaches, and build a family atmosphere within the team.

In addition, players will learn the offensive and defensive scheme and the terminology that will be used in the Panther football program from ninth grade to varsity levels.

The camp will focus on the areas of fundamentals, speed and agility, injury prevention, and goal setting and academics.

The Panther football camp will be free to all incoming ninth grade athletes. Registration forms can be sent via mail to Bullard Athletics, Attn: Coach Callaway, 1426 S. Houston St., Bullard, Tex., 75757.
