Bullard ISD announces students in BHS Class of 2017 Top Ten Percent

Bullard Independent School District recently announced the students who will represent Bullard High School as the Class of 2017 Valedictorian, Salutatorian, and top 10 percent of the class.

Valedictorian - Makayla Dublin

Makayla Rae Dublin, daughter of Robert and Tina Dublin, will serve as the Valedictorian of the BHS Class of 2017.

"I am very excited to be the valedictorian," said Dublin. "I have worked really hard and am excited to represent the BHS Class of 2017."

While attending BHS, Dublin has been involved in band, choir, Key Club, National Honor Society, Model United Nations, and UIL Literary Criticism and Calculator teams.

After graduation, Dublin plans to attend Transylvania University in Lexington, Kent., and major in neurology.

Salutatorian - Matthew Bradley

Matthew Jordan Bradley, son of Jill and Dale Bradley, will represent the BHS Class of 2017 as the Salutatorian.

"I'm pretty excited, except for having to give a speech" said Bradley. "I've put a ton of hours into school and I'm glad that I'm being recognized with the honor of Salutatorian."

As a student at BHS, Bradley has participated in National Honor Society (President), band (head drum major and President), jazz band, and Key Club.

After graduation, Bradley plans to attend the University of North Texas in Denton and possibly double major in music composition and electrical engineering.

Third - Ashley Kethan

Ashley Marie Kethan, daughter of Ron and Kellie Kethan, is currently ranked third in the BHS Class of 2017.

As a BHS student, Kethan has participated in band (Uniform Captain and Sweetheart), NHS (Secretary), UIL academics, and Key Club (President).

After graduation, Kethan plans to attend Texas A&M University - College Station and major in nutrition.

Fourth - Kailey Clarke

Kailey Michelle Clarke, daughter of Michelle Kiel and Eric Clarke, is currently ranked fourth in the BHS Class of 2017.

While attending BHS, Clarke has been involved in several organizations, including Future Farmers of America and NHS.

After graduation, Clarke plans to attend Texas A&M University and major in animal science.

Fifth - Tyler Huffman

Tyler Jacob Huffman, son of Heather and Ed Kraemer, is currently ranked fifth in the BHS Class of 2017.

At BHS, Huffman has participated in NHS, UIL academics, and the Bullard Panther varsity golf team, in which he qualified for the 2017 UIL State Golf Tournament.

After graduation, Huffman plans to attend Texas A&M University and major in either civil engineering or business.

Sixth - Carley Goode

Carley Taylor Goode, daughter of Amanda and Michael Goode, is currently ranked sixth in the BHS Class of 2017.

While attending BHS, Goode has been involved with NHS, Spanish Club, Health Occupations Students of America, FFA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Bullard Panther varsity cheerleading squad. She has also represented the Lady Panthers on the varsity volleyball team, as well as the tennis program and as manager of the track team.

After graduation, Goode plans to attend the University of Texas at Tyler, then transfer to Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches and major in pre-med.

Seventh - Mikayla Russell

Mikayla Racheal Russell, daughter of Don and Diana Russell, is currently ranked seventh in the BHS Class of 2017.

As a BHS student, Russell has participated in NHS, Spanish Club, Science Club, and UIL math. She has also participated in the Lady Panther softball program and severed as a manager for the Bullard Belles drill team.

After graduation, Russell plans to attend UT Tyler and major in early childhood education.

Eighth - Abigail Ehrman

Abigail Elaine Ehrman, daughter of Andy and Michelle Ehrman, is currently ranked eighth in the BHS Class of 2017.

At BHS, Ehrman has been involved with NHS, band, and HOSA, as well as a member of the Lady Panther varsity basketball team.

After graduation, Ehrman plans to attend UT Tyler and major in nursing.

Ninth (tie) - Chloe Ducote

Chloe Alyse Ducote, daughter of Becky and Clark Dees and Richard and Jessica Abshire, is currently ranked tied for ninth in the BHS Class of 2017.

While attending BHS, Ducote has participated in NHS, Spanish Club, HOSA, and FCA, as well as the Lady Panther volleyball and basketball programs.

After graduation, Ducote plans to attend McNeese University in Lake Charles, La., and major in human and health performance/pre-physical therapy. She then plans to attend Texas Tech in Lubbock and enroll in the school's physical therapy school.

Ninth (tie) - Matthew Vierkant

Matthew Jacob Vierkant, son of Matthew and Tammy Vierkant, is currently ranked tied for ninth in the BHS Class of 2017.

As a BHS student, Vierkant has been involved with NHS, UIL academics, Spanish Club, and Culinary Arts, while also participating in the Panther football, baseball, and cross country programs.

After graduation, Vierkant plans to attend Texas A&M University and major in civil engineering.

11th - Hannah Reschke

Hannah Elizabeth Reschke, daughter of Stacey and John Reschke, is currently ranked 11th in the BHS Class of 2017.

At BHS, Resckhe has participated in organizations such as band, NHS and the BHS Twirlers (head twirler).

After graduation, Reschke plans to attend SFA and major in psychology.

12th - Alani Parks

Alani Rene Parks, daughter of Whitley and Kim Parks, is currently ranked 12th in the BHS Class of 2017.

While attending BHS, Parks has been involved with NHS, Student Council, UIL academics, and Culinary Arts. She has also served as a manager for the Bullard Belles drill team.

After graduation, Parks plans to attend Tyler Junior College, then transfer to Texas Tech and major in political science.

13th- Baylee Bain

Baylee Madison Bain, daughter of Heather Chamblee and Chris Bain, is currently ranked 13th in the BHS Class of 2017.

As a BHS student, Bain has participated on the Bullard Belles drill team and in the Spanish Club.

After graduation, Bain plans to earn her basics at TJC, then transfer to a university to study dermatology.

14th - Selena Carter

Selena Breann Carter, daughter of Eli and Amy Love, is currently ranked 14th in the BHS Class of 2017.

At BHS, Carter has been involved with Spanish Club, HOSA, Theatre, NHS, Health Science, and Pharmacy.

After graduation, Carter plans to attend Tyler Junior College and major in pre-pharmacy. Afterwards, she plans to attend UT Tyler and major in pharmacy.

15th - Abby Hall

Abby Danielle Hall, daughter of Steven and Lora Hall, is currently ranked 15th in the BHS Class of 2017.

While attending BHS, Hall has participated in Spanish Club, NHS, and the Bullard Belles drill team. She also has represented the Lady Panthers in the girl's tennis program.

After graduation, Hall plans to attend UT Tyler and major in chemistry.

16th - Alexis Minick

Alexis Elizabeth Reann Minick, daughter of Josh and Lia Minick, is currently ranked 16th in the BHS Class of 2017.

As a BHS student, Minick has been involved in NHS, band, HOSA, Spanish Club, and Key Club.

After graduation, Minick plans to attend UT Tyler and major in biology.

17th - Darby Good

Darby Marie Good, daughter of Ken and Terri Good, is currently ranked 11th in the BHS Class of 2017.

At BHS, Good has participated on the Bullard Belles drill team (captain), band, Spanish Club, NHS, Key Club, Reading Club, and UIL academics.

After graduation, Good plans to attend Baylor University in Waco and major in journalism.

A total of 169members of the BHS Class of 2017 will participate in Commencement Exercises 10 a.m. Saturday, May 27, inside the TJC Wagstaff Gymnasium.
