Brook Hill takes sixth, seventh place team finishes at TAPPS 5A State Golf Championships

The Brook Hill Guard and Lady Guard varsity golf teams competed in their final event of the season recently, as both teams competed at TAPPS 5A State Golf Championship tournament Monday and Tuesday, April 30 and May 1, at Stonetree Golf Club in Killeen.

Brook Hill Guard:

The Brook Hill Guard varsity golf team performed well amongst the teams competing at the TAPPS 5A State Golf Championships, taking home a sixth place team finish with a team total score of 666, beating out other teams such as Austin Hyde Park and Houston Lutheran South Academy.

Leading the Guard’s charge on the links at the State event was Logan Mimms, shooting a two-day team low score of 157 (79-78), allowing him to finished as the eighth place individual.

For his efforts at the tournament, Mimms was recognized as a First Team All State golfer, his second honor in as many years.

Other members of the Brook Hill Guard varsity golf team competing at the TAPPS 5A State Golf Championships included Jack Berry, with a score of 170 (89-81); Hood Taylor, with a score of 170 (91-79); Colton Drennan, with a score of 172 (83-89); and Gregory Goates, with a score of 182 (96-86).

Brook Hill Lady Guard:

Like their male counterparts, the Brook Hill Lady Guard varsity golf team found success on the links of the TAPPS 5A State Golf Championship event, swinging for a team finish of seventh place with a score of 800, allowing the team to finish higher in the standings than the team from Austin Regents School of Austin.

Emma French was the leader for the team in the two-day State event, finishing as the fifth place individual with a two-day score of 159 (81-78). With her strong finish, French was named as a First Team All State golfer.

Other members of the Brook Hill Lady Guard varsity golf team competing at the TAPPS 5A State Golf Championships included Bailea Mapes, with a score of 195 (102-93); Morgan Carpenter, with a score of 219 (113-106); Olivia Kim, with a score of 227 (116-111); and Sydney McNeel, with a score of 248 (125-123).
