The award-winning Bullard Belles will take part in two upcoming events that will help usher in the spirit of Christmas to Bullard Independent School District. The first event hosted by the Bullard Belles will be the “Jingle with the Belles – Supper with Santa” event, scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at the Bullard Early Childhood Campus, located at 318 Schoolhouse Rd. “It’s very rewarding to offer this type of an event for our Baby Belles, especially around this time of year,” said Shelly Johnston, director of the Bullard Belles. “Everyone is always excited about Christmastime, and it’s always fun to see the Baby Belles get involved in all of the activities.” more
Two years after being arrested and charged with Enticing a Child, the trial for a former coach at The Brook Hill School will begin next week. For five years, Clements, 63, of Flint, also known as "Papa Ricky" to Brook Hill students and in the community, served as the Lady Guard volleyball head coach, as well as the head coach for the Lady Guard basketball team. The trial is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, in the court of Judge Randall Rogers in the Smith County Court at Law No. 2. more
A longstanding member of the Bullard Independent School District Board of Trustees has announced his plans to step down from his seat on the panel at the end of this year. According to a resignation letter obtained by Bullard Banner News and addressed to the Bullard ISD Board of Trustees, board president John Alexander (Place 3) told the board he will continue to serve as the board’s president and trustee until Sunday, Dec. 31. more
A total of 17 students representing Bullard High School’s Class of 2018 were recently invited to be the guests of honor at a luncheon event recognizing Top 10 Percent seniors from around the area, held Tuesday, Oct. 10, on the campus of the University of Texas at Tyler. “We are very proud of this year’s top 10 percent of the senior class,” said Laura Hunter, BHS counselor. “They have worked so hard to get here and we are thankful for the recognition they have received from UT Tyler. The Bullard High School Twirlers recently took home a number of awards and state-qualifying credentials after competing at the recent UIL Region 21 Twirling Contest, held Wednesday, Oct. 25, at BHS. In total, the 12 members of the BHS Twirlers competed at the contest, bringing home a total of 10 First Division ratings and punching their tickets to the upcoming UIL State Twirling Contest, to be held Saturday through Monday, May 26- 28, at a site to be determined in the Austin area, according to the UIL website. more
