The Bullard Independent School District’s athletic department is offering students and parents another opportunity to participate in an event aimed at alerting them to any possible hidden heart conditions through the second cardiovascular testing event hosted by the Bullard High School athletic trainers this school year. “This is a great opportunity for the Bullard High School athletic trainers to host an event dedicated to providing safety to our students and athletes,” said Jeff Shrode, Bullard ISD head athletic trainer. “With all of the cardiovascular issues and problems present in athletics or other activities, this is a step to make sure everyone is safe by examining students for any signs of trouble.” more
The Bullard Independent School District Board of Trustees will soon welcome two new members to serve the students, teachers, and parents of the district, as the general election for the school district’s governing body was held Saturday, May 5. more
A longtime educator at The Brook Hill School was recently the recipient of an award recognizing his contributions to education in the northeast Texas area, specifically to the field of fine arts. Glenn Ballard, who has taught at Brook Hill for the past 20 years, currently serving as a speech, drama, and theater arts instructor, was one of six teachers presented with awards at the Young Audiences of Northeast Texas’ 2018 Arts in Education Awards Banquet, held Tuesday, April 3, at Willow Brook Country Club in Tyler. more
Students at the newest Bullard ISD campus recently had the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom, as students attending PRIDE Academy gathered in the parking lot for lessons in automotive car and maintenance with the help of local car enthusiasts. The day spent around several different makes and models of vehicles is just one day’s worth of outside-the-classroom educational experiences that has come about through a partnership with a local businesswoman that is leading an effort to invest in the life of students attending PRIDE Academy. more
With the end of the 2017-2018 school year quickly approaching, senior students and parents at Bullard High School are already making plans for friends and family coming into town to celebrate with their senior students at the BHS Class of 2018 graduation ceremony. The BHS Graduation Committee recently announced plans that will affect this year’s graduation ceremony in an effort to make the event run smoothly for all attending. more
Patriotic pride will return to the city of Bullard, as The American Freedom Museum will take time to honor the sacrifices made by veterans at the upcoming East Texas Salute 2018 event, to be held 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday, May 12, on the museum’s grounds, located on the campus of The Brook Hill Upper School. “The East Texas Salute provides the opportunity for the citizens and students of East Texas to show their appreciation for the sacrifices of our military men and women, to acknowledge their courage, and to show them the honor and support they have earned,” said Jan Hommel, director of the American Freedom Museum. more
Parents with children in Bullard Independent School District can now get a jump on next school year by registering their students online during Bullard ISD’s Online Registration event. Preparations are already in place to allow online registration for current students of Bullard ISD schools throughout the month of May. more
