Three senior students attending Bullard High School received a special honor during an event on-campus to celebrate academic excellence and achievement, and will now enter the next phase of their lives and educational opportunities without having to worry about the cost. Representatives from the University of Texas at Tyler were present at the BHS campus Friday, Feb. 2, for the school’s academic pep rally, where BHS seniors Faith Crist, Joseph Hudson, and Joshua Wagner were called out from amongst the student body and recognized as winners of the UT Tyler Presidential Fellow Scholarship. more
The University of Texas at Tyler recently submitted a formal application to the National Collegiate Athletic Association for Division II membership. “We believe investing in a strong athletics program yields returns in several key areas including student and alumni engagement, brand awareness and school spirit,” said Dr. Michael Tidwell, UT Tyler president. “Playing at the more competitive Division II level will bring additional excitement to our athletics events, as well as provide new opportunities for new scholarships.” more
Several members of the Bullard High School Panther Band recently earned high honors for their musicianship, skills, and abilities, as the band’s members were recognized as members of the All-Region and All-Area Bands. “It’s a very big deal to have our students recognized for their musical talents,” said Jordan. “This year, we were able to earn a record number of chairs for our program in the All-Region Band at the high school level. more
A member of the award-winning Bullard High School Panther Band program will represent the organization on the state’s largest stage, as senior clarinetist Megan McCoy was recently selected as a member of the TMEA All-State Band. “I am very proud of Megan and her accomplishment as a TMEA All-State musician,” said Gary Jordan, Bullard ISD Director of Bands. “She is an extremely part of the Panther Band. She’s our first chair clarinet player and has served our program in a number of roles on a daily basis. This band would be severely handicapped without the work she puts in every single day.” more
As senior Maddie Rogers flies a plane for one of the first few times with her flight instructor and uncle, Craig Sampson, during the summer, she begins to feel some nerves. They ascend into the air, slowly growing further from the runway. As they are now 20 feet off of the ground, Rogers looks to her left and spots a bee just six inches away from her face, sitting on the window. more
Similar to its public school counterpart, the Universal Interscholastic League (UIL), the governing body for Texas private schools recently redrew the district boundary lines for several sports, which will affect athletics at The Brook Hill School for the next two school years. According to Brook Hill Athletic Director Wally Dawkins, although the lines have been changed somewhat for several sports, there’s a sense of familiarity due to the differences in number of opponents competing under the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools umbrella. more
