Everyone knows that the Valentine’s Day holiday is associated with the emotion of love. For one group of students attending Bullard Middle School, it also represents a time to give back to those who need to feel love. For several years, the BMS Builders Club has partnered with local radio stations 89.5 FM KVNE and 91.3 FM KGLY to help out with creating and sorting a thousands of handmade Valentine’s Day cards that come into the radio studio through the annual Valentines for Kids and Seniors in Assisted Living Facilities project. more
The spotlight was shining brightly on three successful fine arts programs within Bullard Independent School District, as students, as well as their talents and abilities, were on full display at the Bullard Middle School Fine Arts Showcase, held Monday, Jan. 22, inside the BMS gymnasium. According to Alison Walker, BMS pom squad director and BMS Fine Arts event organizer, the event allowed three BMS fine arts programs to showcase their students’ talents while also serving as a preparation performance for events scheduled in the spring semester. more

Applications and nominations for people that have made a positive impact on Bullard Independent School District will be accepted for the Bullard ISD Wall of Honor Class of 2018 until next week. This year’s Bullard ISD Wall of Honor nomination process began on Thursday, Jan. 25, with applications required to be turned in to the Bullard ISD Administration Office by 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28. more
Safety of students during the school day is a hot-button issue across the country, with reports of assaults and shootings in the news more often than many people care to see or hear. The Brook Hill School recently made strides to help educate students and families on how to stay safe in a number of environments, as the school hosted an all-female self-defense class event Monday, Jan. 29, inside the Kyle Lake Athletic Center. more
Bullard FFA members are busy working to prepare their animal and shop projects, as the organization will compete at the upcoming annual Smith County Youth Expo, to be held Wednesday through Friday, Feb. 28 – March 2, at Bullard High School. “The Smith County Youth Expo falls in the middle of our livestock show season, but more importantly, it allows the bulk of our students to participate with their SAE projects,” said Monty Main, Bullard FFA advisor. “We have a unique opportunity to place in this event and do well in the Sale of Champions, in which students are rewarded for their hard work they’ve put into the project.” more
