Older women used to tell me to “take care of myself” as I was caring for my adorable toddlers. What in the world does that mean, I thought at the time. Even if I knew how to take care of myself, when would I find the time? For practical purposes of column space, I want to think first about the way we take care of ourselves privately. What are some practical things any one can do to refresh our own heart? more
Here in Austin, the Legislature has ended our second week of session. We are off the starting block and continue to pick up the pace for the long race ahead. We are going to see a contrast in leadership styles as Obama leaves office and Trump steps up. This got me thinking about how leadership looks in our families, in our community, and in our nation. Having interviewed countless leaders in our region, I am convinced that good leaders have certain qualities that set them apart from poor leaders.
