Girls finish second, boys take fourth at Panther Relays

PHOTO BY ANTHONY VENCE The Bullard girls' varsity track team finished second and the boys finished fourth at the Panther Relays on March 7 at Bullard High School.

Seven area high schools competed in the event. The Kaufman Lions took first place overall for both varsity teams.

The Bullard varsity girls finished in second with 133 points.

The team of Savannah Nelson, Brianna Conner, Tomarro Wilson and Destinee Welch finished second in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 52.11 seconds, just .12 seconds shy of first place Palestine.

Nelson also competed in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing second with a time of 16.86 seconds.

The team of Brittany Hinton, Miranda Elmore, Tomarro Wilson and Destinee Welch finished first in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:51.39.

Conner also competed in the long jump, placing second with jump of 14 feet, 4 ¾ inches.

Taylor Spiller took first place in the shot put with a throw of 34 feet, 9 inches. Ashley Searcy took first in discus with a throw of 89 feet and Jamey King took second place in the high jump reaching 5 feet.

The Bullard varsity boys finished in fourth place with 83 points.

The team of Mikah Hughes, Drake Daly, Turner Taylor and Cade Wood finished second in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:31.7.

Jacob Allen took first in discus with a throw of 147 feet, 22 feet better than the second place throw. He also took third in the shot put with a throw of 44 feet.

The team of Cade Wood, Turner Taylor, Drake Daly and Brent Henderson finished third in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:34.76.

The Panthers’ next track meet will be on March 20 in Lindale.
