BISD fishing team readies for Lake Palestine contest

The second of five scheduled Texas High School Bass Association tournaments is set for Saturday, Nov. 16 on Lake Palestine.

Launch and weigh-in will be held at The Villages Marina, located at 18270 Singing Wood Lane in Flint.

This is the first year for the Texas High School Bass Association. What originally started with eight teams in August has grown to 26 schools in just a few months.

The organization held its first tournament on Nov. 2 on Lake Fork. Nineteen different schools participated with 60 teams entering.

“We expect at least that many and maybe even a few more to participate, for the simple fact that it is not opening weekend of hunting season and for most of the schools involved, their football season will be over at that point,” said Bullard Panthers Fishing Club Advisor Tim Haugh.

Bullard and Kaufman are the host schools for this event.

Launch begins at 6:30 a.m. in which the teams have the choice to launch from The Villages or another boat ramp. Teams are not allowed to leave the ramp they launch from until 7:10 a.m. and cannot start fishing until 7:20 a.m.

The weigh-in process begins at 3 p.m. with flights in 15-minute intervals.
