Cub Scouts camp out at Brookshire's lake lot

Bullard Cub Scout Pack 366 recently spent a couple of nights braving the unseasonably cool May weather, camping out at Brookshire’s lake lot.

“This is something we try and do each year with just our Pack,” said Chester Baird, camping cooridinator for the pack. “The Cubs attend a Mom and Me camp out and a Dad and Lad campout at Camp Pirtle near Carthage but that is with cubs from all over East Texas. This family camp out is just the families from our local Pack. It was well attended and the kids had fun.”

Cubs tried their hands at fishing and prepared a wind chime for their moms for Mother’s Day. They also made homemade ice cream to go on their Dutch oven peach cobbler, played a great game of kick ball, flew kites and participated in a scavenger hunt all over the Brookshire’s lake lot property.

Over the two nights they had some down time around the camp fire and away from electronics with their families, ate lots of s’mores and made some great memories.

Cubs will attend Day Camp during the summer where they will earn many pins and badges and belt loops. Cub Scouting is for Grades 1-5 and they meet at the Bullard Southern Baptist Church on Monday nights at 6:30.
