Boys doubles team takes 3rd at regionals

Bullard’s two qualified tennis players participated in the regional tennis tournament in Rockwall Wednesday- Thursday, April 17-18.

The Panthers’ winning combination of Cameron Sanson and Hunter Wages put up a good fight at regional where the pair placed third bringing home the bronze medal for Bullard.

They beat Irving North Hill’s doubles team Carlos Pancorvo and Adhitya Jayasinghe in the first round 6-2, 6-4. They went on to beat Jacob McCann and Jackson Douglas from Texarkana Pleasant Grove 6-4, 6-0 in the quarterfinals. To end their run, they lost to Jack Vidkery and Rafael Ortega from Argyle 5-7, 6-4 and 6-3 in the Semi-finals.

Sanson and Wages played Tim Whitley and Nolan Whitley from Athens for the third place medal and beat them 6-2, 6-2. They had a playback for second place against Jake Johnson and Zach Ripple from Krum but lost to them 6-2, 6-3.

“They had a great year and finished up strong. We will definitely miss having Hunter’s leadership on our team next year but are excited to have Cameron back for his senior year,” head coach Tanya Bryant said. “The two of them have been assets to our program and will do great things in the future.”
