BUSINESS IN THE SPOTLIGHT
The Bullard Chamber of Commerce has chosen McCrae Ford of Jacksonville as its Feb. Business in the Spotlight.
Owner Tim McCrae purchased his parents out of ownership in Dec. 2009, but has been a partner for over a decade.
McCrae has been a member of the Bullard Chamber for roughly three years.
“As soon as our districting was realigned with Ford, we became members,” McCrae said. “It was around the time the auto industry had problems.”
McCrae said he has enjoyed being involved with the Chamber, and said the members are “fun people to work with. It definitely helps. The Chamber is the lifeline to the business community and the citizens helping with everything from beautification to economic development. ”
Since becoming a member, his dealership has hosted a program called “Lincoln Drive Smart” where citizens were asked to test drive vehicles netting a $25 donation for each test drive recorded, up to 300. McCrae said, last year his dealership helped raise roughly $4,000 for Bullard Independent School District, test driving slightly over 200.
McCrae Ford is currently in talks with the district about sponsoring another Drive Smart event.
“Right now, we are deciding who the benefactor will be for the funds raised,” he said. “We are waiting to get with them on a date for the next one, and hopefully it will be sometime this spring.”
The dealership is currently in the midst of Ford Truck Month, where McCrae said Ford offers extra incentives to buyers during the month.
“It’s a big campaign in the state of Texas,” he said. “I know, for a fact, that they funnel extra money to Texas for this event because we have the biggest truck buying per capita in the nation. You don’t get any better incentives than right now.”
