Bullard Elementary holds UIL meet

Host students rack up six first place finishes

With a field of 11 schools and more than 400 students, Bullard Elementary recently hosted a University of Interscholastic League Academic meet for second through fifth grades.

In fifth grade, Bullard took first place in dictionary, oral reading, spelling and tying for first place in social studies, taking third place overall with 94 points, behind Rusk with 143.5 points and Athens Intermediate with 204 points.

In fourth grade, Bullard tied for second place in oral reading and spelling, and took first overall in ready writing, again taking third, overall, with 47 points, behind Rusk’s 89 points and Athens’ 122.6 points.

In third grade, Bullard took second place in spelling and story-telling and third in ready writing, placing second, overall, with 60.5 points, only behind Rusk with 98.5 points.

In second grade, Bullard took second place in storytelling, placing fifth, overall, with 15 points, behind Chapel Hill wise with 16, Athens South with 18, Athens Bel-Air with 22, and Rusk with 29 points.
