Guard falters in conference action
Brook Hill boys basketball dropped two district games last week to Garland Christian and then to Dallas Shelton to bring their record to 3-4 and 11-13 overall.
Dallas Shelton, Friday, Jan. 27, only trailed once by a score of 3-2 and then outscored the Guard 28-17 to take a 30-18 lead into halftime. Brook Hill never got closer than ten points for the rest of the game.
Brook Hill lost 39-57 with only four Guards scoring. Austin Langemeier led with 18 points with six rebounds. Grant Hanks followed close behind with 15 points and six assists.
Carter Clements found four for the Guard while Tyler Burton added two points.
Brook Hill had a good fight against Garland Christian Tuesday with a two point lead with only five minutes remaining in the third quarter by a score of 22-20. The Swordsmen then threw up 12 straight points to pull away for the win.
Losing 36-51, The Guard only had one player break into the double digits on the scoreboard. Langemeier scored 15 points with seven rebounds for Brook Hill. Phillip Kitt scored six with five rebounds while Clements also scored six.
Burton shot in five points while Hanks and Jared Dickey both added two each, Hanks with five assists and Dickey with six rebounds for the night.
Brook Hill was scheduled to host McKinney Christian Tuesday, Jan. 31 and then play Richardson Canyon Creek Friday, Feb. 3 at home.
