BH girls clinch playoff spot
The Lady Guard basketball team had their backs against the wall with two must-wins last week and came out on top both times to assure a spot in the TAPPS 3A playoffs.
Brook Hill traveled to Dallas Shelton Friday, Jan. 27 and dominated the court with a 36-14 victory. Alyssa Eden scored seven points and nine steals, Riley Williams earned seven points and 13 rebounds, while Samantha Anderson scored eight points with 11 rebounds for Brook Hill.
The Lady Guard took the win from Dallas Shelton off their win Tuesday, Jan. 24 over Garland Christian, 43-24 with defense continuing to be the backbone of the team.
Freshman Anderson and sophomore Williams both got into the double digits for both points and rebounds in Garland. Williams scored 18 points and earned ten rebounds while Anderson scored 13 with 12 rebounds and added five steals.
The Lady Guard will host #13 state-ranked McKinney Christian on Tuesday, Jan. 31, #18 state-ranked Canyon Creek on Friday, Feb. 3 and then are scheduled to travel to #6 stateranked Dallas Lutheran Feb. 7 to end district play.
The young Lady Guard team is now 11-8 on the season and in third place with a 4-3 record in district.
