Middle school hosts district UIL meet
Bullard Middle School recently hosted the 17-3A District Academic University Interscholastic League meet with successful results.
In eighth grade competitions, Zac Spears placed second, McKenzie Starnes placed third and Kelsey Bell placed sixth in poetry.
Kara Kuczkowski took second place in prose. In modern oratory, Kara Kuczkowski also took second place, with Jordie Green taking fourth. In impromptu speaking, Annie Camblin took first place, with JW McFarland taking second.
In ready writing, Kelsey Green took first place, and Mikaela Goode took second. In math, Lane Marsh took third, with the BMS team taking third place, overall.
In chess, Chase Sawyer took second, Michael Granberry took third and Ben
Stewart took fourth. In social studies, Trent Talley took third, Mikah Huges took sixth and the BMS team took third overall.
In number sense, JW McFarland took sixth place, and the team took third place, overall. In dictionary skills, Lane Marsh took second place.
In science, Clay Rowden took second place, JW McFarland, and the team took third, overall.
In calculator, Kristna Chamberlain took second, Chase Sawyer took third, and the team took second, overall.
In art, Lane Marsh took second place, Braydan McKeethan took sixth, and the team took third, overall.
In one-act play, BMS took second place, overall, with Kara Kuczkowski and JW McFarland earning “All-Star Cast” honors. Clay Rowden won the “Best Actor” award, and Zac Spears and Morgan Lauby won “Technical Theater Awards.” Bullard’s eighth grade took second place in district at the meet.
In seventh grade, Jaelyn Harris took fifth place in poetry. Codie Lovelady took sixth in prose.
In impromptu speaking, Katie Smith took second, and Hannah Lloyd took fifth. In Oratory, Hannah Lloyd took first, Kelly Ellis took second, Joey Pedruco took third and Carley Goode took sixth.
In science, Hunter Ganske took first, Makayla Dublin took second, and the team took first, overall.
In math, Matthew Bradley took third, Rachel Anderson took sixth, and the team took second, overall.
In maps, graphs & charts, Emily Pillman took third, and the team took second, overall. In chess, Rachel Anderson, Ashley Keethan and Jordan Day tied for fourth place.
In editorial writing, Makayla Dublin took second. In number sense, Jordan Day took third, and the team took third, overall.
In dictionary skills, the team took third, overall. In listening skills, Jaelyn Harris took fourth, Matt Haugh took fifth, and the team took third, overall.
In spelling, the team took third place, overall. In calculator, Erin Johnson took fourth, Matthew Haugh took fifth, and the team took second, overall. In art, Matthew Bradley took third, Hunter Ganske took fourth, and Trevor Johnson took sixth, with the team taking first, overall. Bullard’s seventh grade took second place in district.
Bullard’s sixth grade took third place in district, overall with first place winners in poetry, math, maps, graphs & charts, chess, and the first place team in social studies.
