Bullard rattles Rusk, 82-35; improves to 1-1 in district

PHOTO COURTESY SUSIE MOORE Bullard boys basketball team bumped up their intensity for a huge win over Rusk at home Friday, 82-35, taking their district record to 1-1 after a close loss Tuesday by two points.
Spreading the scoring across the Bullard roster, 12 Panthers scored against Rusk dominating the court. Taft Rose led the team with 19 points. David Heithoff also broke into double figures scoring 12 for Bullard.
Blayne Noble scored eight while Scott Lowrie, Tyler Grabski, and Chandler Clark all earned seven points each. To continue the scoring, Johnathon Bell found five points along with Corbin Howard.
Jaime McClenny scored four while Blake Rutherford and Cameron Hallford scored three. Taylor McIntyre got on the board with two points all leading towards the Bullard victory Friday.
“The guys were fueled by an awesome student section and played great defense. We turned out our best offensive game of the year as well,” head coach Shane Chambless said.
Bullard took their first district loss against Brownsboro in a close matchup with only two points separating the two teams’ final scores.
Lowrie and Rose both scored 16 points a piece to lead the Panthers in scoring.
Clark earned six points while Howard and Grabski both scored five each for Bullard.
The Panthers let this game slip away with a low shooting percentage with Brownsboro earning several of their points off offensive rebounds.
Bullard was scheduled to play Chapel Hill Tuesday, Jan. 24 for another district game and then again Friday, Jan. 27 at Athens. Next Tuesday, Jan. 31 is an open game day for the Panthers.
