BH boys cruise to 81-48 win

PHOTOS BY RACHAEL ROETEN Brook Hill’s boys’ basketball team crushed Dallas Lutheran at home 81-48 Friday night coming off a loss Tuesday, Jan 17.
The Guard jumped out to a 20-11 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and continued the fury for the rest of the game. By halftime, Brook Hill increased their lead to 50-27. The Guard had a 68-29 lead going into the final quarter which enabled head coach Wally Dawkins to give a few of the younger players some valuable playing time.
Carter Clements was the big score for Brook Hill having a great all-over night with a career high 21 points, five rebounds, four steals, and two 3-pointers. Austin Langemeier scored high teens with 17 points and five rebounds.
Freshmen Chase McDermott scored 11 points with four steals and four rebounds for the Guard while Grant Hanks scored ten with five assists. Jared Dickey earned eight points and six rebounds while Phillip Kitt scored five and Tyler Burton had three.
Brook Hill played a disappointing showing against Richardson Canyon Creek Tuesday, Jan. 17, losing 38-48.
The Guard trailed 22-19 going into halftime at Canyon Creek before shooting a merely 14 percent from the court in the second half resulting in the loss.
Langemeier was the only Guard to break into double figures with 14 points, two 3-pointers, and eight rebounds.
Hanks score eight points, two 3-pointers, and five assists for the night. Clements scored five points and found four rebounds while Andrew Swink scored three points for the Guard.
Burton, McDermott, Kitt, and Dickey all scored two points with Dickey finding six rebounds and Kitt having five.
Brook Hill is now tied for second place with Garland Christian, both with a 3-2 record. The Guard are 11-11 overall in the season.
The Guard were scheduled to travel to Garland Tuesday, Jan. 24 for a rematch with the Swordsmen after Brook Hill won in early January, 42-40. They then return to the Metroplex Friday to face the league-leading Dallas Shelton at 7:30.
