Consider Jowell for judge

We are entering a critical contest for the office of county judge of Cherokee County.

Two of the candidates are well known because of their service in city and county offices.

The third candidate is Marlene Jowell, who is well known for her voluntary service in the church, civic, and charitable organizations.

When she announced that she would run on the democratic ticket, I was surprised because not many Democrats are expected to win this Fall.

I decided to phone her because I wanted to know two things: What kind of a Democrat is she? And what are her qualifications?

She received my call with grace and answered my questions with candor.

First, she said she is a conservative Democrat who became interested in politics as a young Texan.

We talked about responsibilities of county judge. I believe she is conservative where it counts and she is supported by Democrats, Republicans, and conservatives.

She has been warmly received by individuals and groups with conservative ideals.

Second, as to her qualifi cations, I have seen her resume, which showed me she was a school teacher before she entered the business world. She served for 35 years as an executive for large corporations such as Compaq and Gateway.

She worked in sales, operations, marketing and public relations. And she has a long list of accomplishments in volunteer church, civic, and charity work.

I won’t try in this letter to include her six major goals for our county, but before the campaign is over you will hear them. You can find them listed on her web site, www.jowell4judge.com

As a result, I have decided to support her. I urge you to give serious consideration to her as our future county judge and to the solutions she offers our present problems. She is “the complete candidate.”

Sincerely, Price A. Allem Cherokee County
