Library to host challenge
The Bullard library is hosting “The Great Kindness Challenge,” A Kids for Peace program, Saturday, Aug. 14. Checklists that include up to 50 challenges, will be available at the Bullard Library.
Activities associated with the program at the Bullard Library will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., including work stations to help generate greeting cards for soldiers serving abroad, a station where older youths will be able to read books to youngsters and more.
“We encourage youth to join this worldwide movement to perform as many kind deeds as you can in one day,” said Joanne Buendtner, head librarian.
Students and children in the Bullard area are invited to share in the challenge. According to the Web site, www.greatkindnesschallenge. org, The Great Kindness Challenge is a one day program (from sunup to sundown) devoted to help children perform as many acts of kindness as possible. The goal of organizers this year is to have more than one million children participate and to inspire a lifelong commitment to service and kindness.
Children can accomplish simple, kind deeds using The Great Kindness Challenge Checklist found at the Bullard Library, located at 211 W. Main St. in Bullard. Groups also may participate.
