Ninth Grade pigskin camp set next week

BULLARD - For all Bullard Panthers freshman football, it’s “hands on deck” next week.

There is a new field general in townhead football coach and athletic director, Shannon Wilson, along with his staff, starting this next week. All in-coming freshmen are invited to be a part of another new Panther tradition, this season.

The staff will be hosting the football camp for all incoming 9th graders, beginning Monday, July 26 – Thursday, July 29. Each workout will begin at 8:00 until 10:00 a.m. There is no cost for the camp.

“Our goal for this camp is to give our incoming freshmen a head start going into two-a-days,” said Wilson from his office at the newly renovated fieldhouse. “We will be able to install our base offense/defense, learn terminology, and it doesn’t cost anything !”

“We will treat each day like a normal practice (without pads of-course),” added Wilson, about the induction to the new ‘Make A Panther’ program and family atmosphere, already becoming contagious during summer workouts.

The Panthers will have intra-squad action on Aug 7, and then a three-way scrimmage with Edgewood and Quinlan Ford will begin the real analysis process.

“We are excited to get going with all of our players,” Wilson added, “The early scrimmages will give us an idea with our personnel, and we will be moving people around early, to get the best balance for our team.”

The season opener is against Quitman, Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Panther Stadium.
