Cyclists on F.M. 344
I would like to make a complaint loud and clear to the bicyclists who seem to have taken over F.M. 344 from Teaselville to Bullard.
I live in Teasleville and travel F.M. 344 to Bullard daily. F.M. 344 is a very curvy road with lots of hills and absolutely no shoulder. I have encountered a group on cyclists on this road several times and not only are they rude riders but they are creating dangerous situations. They ride in the middle of the lane in groups of two and three, they try to run you over into the other lane, and I could go on and on.
I am all for “sharing the road” but I believe they should only be allowed to ride like that on roads with shoulders. I was following my daughter into Bullard the other day when we came upon one of these groups. They had a line of 15 cars, that I counted, almost at a standstill. They were riding in the middle of the road when they literally made my daughter have to drive on the wrong side of the road to keep from running one of them over.
This happened in a spot where it was in a big curve and on a hill. A car was coming toward her and she had to make the decision to either run the bicyclists into the ditch or have a head-on collision. When she honked her horn at the bicyclists, one of them had the audacity to shoot her the finger, like she had done something wrong. I think their attitudes about cars sharing the road with them have become arrogant and entitled. They do these things on purpose and create these dangerous situations on purpose just because they can. So, when one of them gets run over or knocked into a ditch, a tree, or a car, all I can say is they asked for it. Enough is enough. Drivers attitudes toward them are what they are because they have caused us to be with their pompass and arrogant ways. Isn’t there something that can be done about this?
Sincerely, Kristin Robertson
