Smith County district 9U softball tourney in Bullard
BULLARD - The 2010 Smith County Baseball Association playoff season officially began this past Monday night at ‘The Outfield’.
The district tournament is being hosted for eight 9-under softball teams this week in the district tourney, which will wind down to the championship game set for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday night.
Should a second game be needed, it would begin at 8 p.m. on Thursday night.
The Troup Angels played the Nerve Wreckers from Alto in one opening game on Monday night.
In later action on Monday night, the Whitehouse ‘Lil Horns played the Jacksonville Twisters.
The final game of opening night matched up the Grapeland Fireworks playing the Jacksonville Sting.
Game times are set for 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. the first two nights of the tourney.
The Bullard Lady Panthers came up one-win shy of qualifying for the tournament, just missing a bid to represent Bullard.

The Bullard Thunder finished up the 10U softball season with a 9-1 record and play in the 10U tournament this week in Brownsboro.
Finals for the Brownsboro tourney are set for Thursdsay night, also.
Next week, the Bullard Complex will entertain the boys machine-pitch district tourney with the Bullard Bombers winning the regular season.
The Bombers Freshmen as well as the other boys district division games will be played next week at various sites of Whitehouse, Brownsboro, Chapel Hill and Troup.
