(Banner Staff File Photo) (Banner Staff File Photo) Stacey Thompson, a member of the Bullard Council and one of the organizers of Bullard’s Fourth of July Blast in the Sky, waited until the final hours before she was forced to cancel the event.

A light rain fell early Friday, July 2, and just about the time the event was scheduled to begin, heavy rain was falling in Bullard.

The city received 1.35 inches of rain, July 2, unofficially. The rainfall capped a week of wet weather with 2.88 inches falling from June 24 right up to the start of the holiday weekend. Much of the rainfall was recorded during the fourday period from June 29 through July 2, with 2.44 inches.

With the wet weather, the Blast in the Sky entertainment was unable to perform. The entertainment was to include the Hubbard Family, Lauren Alexander, and performers from First Baptist Church

in Bullard.

Organizers planned for concessions, the large sand box for children and about 30 minutes of fireworks.
