Police chief fires officer
STEVEN MORRIS Bullard Patrolman Steven Morris is no longer working for the Bullard Police Department.
According to Bullard Police Chief Gary Don Lewis, Morris, 27, was terminated as an officer Monday, June 14.
“He was on suspension with pay since May 4,” Lewis said.
Morris is under investigation regarding allegations of criminal misconduct. Lewis said the case is being investigated by the Texas Rangers and that he is unable to discuss details regarding the case.
According to Lewis, Morris was terminated as an officer after facts regarding information he provided at a disciplinary hearing on May 4 proved untrue. The hearing was in reference to the investigation.
Morris had been an officer for the Bullard Police Department since January 2007, Lewis said. He also had taken over the duties as the officer in charge of the police canine about six months ago. Unfortunately, the Bullard canine, Axe, recently suffered a severe medical disorder and is out of commission.
With the loss of Morris, the Bullard Police Department has six officers, including Lewis.
