The Bullard Independent School District Board of Trustees approved 2010-2011 salaries during the regular monthly meeting Monday, June 21.
Trustees approved a 3 percent adjustment for administration personnel, and a 2 percent adjustment for other staff who qualify.
Teacher’s salaries increased according to their respective step or level. Starting salaries will be $31,320 with adjustments in the following levels: $31,910 for level 1; $32,490 for level 2; $33,080 for level 3; $34,320 for level 4; $35,560 for level 5; $36,800 for level 6; $37,950 for level 7; $39,040 for level 8; $40,070 for level 9; $41,040 for level 10; $41,960 for level 11; $42,840 for level 12; $43,650 for level 13; $44,430 for level 14; $45,160 for level 15; $45,860 for level 16; $46,510 for level 17; $47,130 for level 18; $47,720 for level 19; $48,270 for level 20; and $48,770 for level 21- plus.
In other action, the board approved a request by administration to require high school students to take at least one complete course of technical applications.
Stephanie Luper said she has concerns about the music program at Bullard Primary School and Bullard Elementary School. She said she wanted to make sure the programs were not cut from the campuses.
“Music is such an integral part of their development,” Luper said of the young students.
She said higher TAKS scores were related to having a music program and rumors among people in the community that the programs would be cut could affect the scores in the future.
While trustees did not address the rumors, Board President John Alexander said the board has no knowledge about the programs being cut and that administration would have to address the issue.
On the consent agenda, trustees approved Dr. John Alexander to serve on the Board of Directors for the Texas Association of School Boards, Region 7; approved a memorandum of understanding with the Smith County Juvenile Services; approved a resolution regarding struck-off property; and approved the 2010-2011 meal prices.
The board tabled a request to approve the 2010-2011 campus handbook and the 2010-2011 student code of conduct.
