New Cactus Speedway racers praising kicking up the dirt on track

M.D. ‘Doc’ Smith

Striving to be one of the finest facilities in their field from Shreveport, Dallas, and Houston, the new Cactus Speedway is a new-clay surfaced 1/5 mile circle track in Bullard.

The oval-banked track has a large pit area and grandstands to accommodate fans of all ages.

Anything goes almost as heats of racing motorcycles, ATV’s, go-karts and lawnmowers!

Some of the super mowers have been known to go as fast as 50 m.p.h. when making the oval at Cactus.

A first-year go-kart racer, and a brand new racetrack have each proven to be hits on the local dirt track racing scene this season, as the crowds and participants increase each week.

A few weeks back, nine-year-old Boone Evans, a student at Bullard Elementary School, won his fourth race in six tries Saturday afternoon, when he took the checkers in the Junior Finals (go-karts).

Regardless of being a race fan or not, an afternoon at Cactus Speedway, is worth the trip.
