CORAL GABLES, FLA. - Our readers in Bullard now know the verdict of Bullard’s Brodie Greene and his Texas A&M Aggies completing a comeback from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the University of Miami in the finals of the Southwest regional in Coral Gables, Florida.
After a one hour 36- minute delay to start the game, the Aggies scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning, before the rains washed the night away, with the score at 3-2.
Texas A&M had two out, with Andrew Collazo looking at a 0-2 count with Caleb Shofner on first base, when the umpires discontinued play.
After the rainout on Monday, Greene was let down but still upbeat about the series. “Yeah, it’s tough when you finally get something going, to have to shut it down,” said Greene, via phone late Monday night.
“But I think momentum is on our side, and it’ll carry in to tomorrows game,” Greene added, about being ever so close to a childhood dream.
“We’re on the doorstep,” Brodie began. “Had the opportunity to play in two super regionals my freshman and sophomore years, and now to do it again as a senior would be the best way to go out.”
Greene also commented on the support he has received from back home in Bullard.
”It’s been great,” Greene began, “After the walk-off homer against Baylor in the Big 12 championship, I had about 40 text messages.”
Greene continued, “It was great to hear from people I haven’t talked to in quite some time, and the support has carried over greatly into the regional tournament.”
