Panther Prowl
There’s one thing I think about as these final days in school come and go more quickly.
It’s something that’s always appealed to me, but I haven’t wanted to accept. It’s the famous quote from Aristotle. “Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.” Now that I’m sitting here writing the final words I’ll ever write for the Bullard Banner News, those words finally seem real to me.
I can still remember my first day of elementary school, playing with friends on the football field at recess and cheerleading and traveling to different towns. I remember spending every summer in Houston with a family I am so blessed to call my own. I even recall turning 13 a week before moving to Bullard and wishing so bad I was 18 and able to make my own decisions.
For those of you who are underclassmen reading this and wanting so bad to be in my and my classmates’ position, believe me when I say it will be here in the blink of an eye. Enjoy every moment you have in high school, because you won’t ever get them back. The time will come when you’ll walk across the stage, get handed your diploma, throw your cap in the air and finalize your time as a high school student. As far as my life after high school goes, I’m terrified. It’s going to be the hardest thing not to depend on my mom, but to depend on myself.
There are just a few final words I have to say to everyone before I’m gone. Ciera, Kelsie and Rachel, I will miss you all more than anything. I hope your senior year is as great as mine has been. As for everyone else, take care of my brother Dakota Wilson and be good influences. I love everyone I’ve ever talked to, so have fun, make memories and live your life!
