Brook Hill singers

The Brook Hill Lower School Cadet Singers brought home the highest honor from the East Texas Music Festival for the third year in a row, including the Outstanding trophy on Tuesday, May 11. They competed with five other honor choirs in the East Texas area and received great remarks from judges Mark Fried and Tom Sims such as, “I’ve judged middle school choirs that are not as good as you,” “Choir follows direction extremely well,” “Excellent pitch and open sounds,” and “Diction was so beautiful.” The Cadet Singers include students from third- through fifth-grade who audition at the beginning of the year and are under the direction of Heidi Faulk, the school’s music director. This honor follows three other awards given to the choir last weekend at the Season’s in the Park Music Competition in Arlington. The choir received a superior rating trophy, a “best in class” for choirs in elementary, and the “grand champion” trophy for choirs in elementary and middle school.
