Disappointed
Last night, we had the pleasure of visiting the new softball fields to watch our niece play. She plays for Celina, ranked third in the state and they played against Huntington, ranked No. 1 in the state.
We were proud to host our families, who drove from two hours away, on the handsome new fields. We sat on the bleachers talking about the players and our kids who played in the grass next to us until we were interrupted by “You’re a Jerk” playing loudly over the speakers.
Wow. Great choice of music. We all exchange looks but forget about it when the music died and the softball game resumed.
That is, until they played their next song. Within a matter of seconds we hear the “fword” followed by another stream of profanity. My 5-yearold quickly runs to tell us that this song is inappropriate. Well, at least he understands.
Throughout the game, Bullard continued to embarrass us and itself with it’s despicable choice of music.
The high-school aged girls ran on and off the fields to “Baby Got Back” and “Wootie- White Girl with a Bootie.” I can’t imagine what went through their heads or, worse yet, the heads of their fathers sitting uncomfortably in the stands.
As a father with a future softball player, this issue needs to be addressed or my daughter will be playing for a community that offers a healthier atmosphere.
Embarrassed and concerned,
Miguel Cantu
