BHS students to particpate in state academic meet
Two Bullard High School students are preparing for the state academic meet in Austin May 6-8 after competing at the 3A Region III meet in Brenham April 23. Senior Breanna Hinton won the ready writing competition while fellow senior Teja King won headline writing. Hinton was the 3A state champion in ready writing last year.
Senior Kory Prince also brought home a medal from the regional meet. He placed fifth in Computer Applications. A total of 10 students qualified for the regional meet.
Those placing at the district competition April 1 at Le- Tourneau were:
Headline Writing — Allie Wade* (1st); Sharleen Smith* (2nd); and Teja King* (3rd).
News Writing –Regan du Preez* (2nd).
Editorial Writing – Jacob Cotton (5th).
Feature Writing – Sarah Grace French (6th).
Ready Writing – Breann Hinton* (1st); and Jacob Cotton (4th).
Computer Applications – Kory Prince* (1st).
Poetry – Kelsey Moses* (1st); Minta Spears* (3rd); and Callie Timme (5th).
Prose – Heather Berryhill* (1st); and Teja King (6th).
Literary Criticism – Hannah Dahms (5th).
Lincoln/Douglas Debate – Suzanne Warden* (2nd)
Persuasive Speaking – Suzanne Warden (4th); and Dallin Younger (5th).
Informative Speaking – Minta Spears* (1st); and Cullen Hippler (4th).
Mathematics – Kory Prince (4th).
Science overall – Kory Prince* (1st).
Science Physics – Kory Prince (1st).
Science Chemistry – Kory Prince (2nd).
