City to start budget process

For the city of Bullard, it is that time of the year – time to crunch a few numbers.

“May is quickly approaching and with it the time to begin the city’s budgetary process,” said Bullard Mayor Teresa Adams- Wilks. “I thought it would be appropriate to give the citizens an update on where we stand as of the first quarter of the fiscal year.”

The following is an update on the status of the city budget as of the first quarter of the fiscal year:

From the January 2010 financial statements, the city is four months, or 33.33 percent, into the current fiscal year.

As of January, the General/Administration Fund cash position was $272,231 as compared to $222,075 to January of the previous year. Sales tax revenue is at 32.34 percent of bud- geted amounts. Building permits, inspections, etc., are running ahead of budget at 47.87 percent. The total expenses are at 31.97 percent of the budget.

The police cash is included in the general/administration fund above. The total expenses for the department are at 27.85 percent of budget

As of January, the Street/Court’s cash position was $470,740 as compared to $390,667 to January of the previous year. Fine revenue is at 39.37 percent of budgeted amounts. The total expenses for the department are at 23.97 percent of budget

As of January, the utility fund’s cash position was $279,296 as compared to $118,887 to January of the previous year. The total utility revenue is at 30.10 percent of budgeted amounts. Typically, the most productive months for revenue for the department are still ahead. The Total expenses for the department are at 37.20 percent of budget.
