Bailey, T-Rose combine for four-hitter in win

GILMER – The Bullard Panthers remain undefeated in District 17-3A play with a 4-3 win over Gilmer at Buckeye Field on Friday night

Bullard centerfielder, Ryan Wood scored on a wild pitch in the top of the sixth inning for the win, as Bullard ups the league mark to 6-0

Wood singled and stole second base, before a hit by Tanner Bailey fell in the gap in right field. Wood then scored with Nolan Rose taking his fourth ball for a walk, and scoring on the wild throw.

Bullard’s Bailey started the game on the mound for Bullard, striking out three and walking none, before giving way to a fourhit inning and a Luke Turner homerun tied the game at 3-3.

The scoring started earlier as Panther senior, Nick Rumbelow slapped the first pitch of the second inning up the middle, and later scored when Hunter Skelton drew a walk with the bases loaded, and a 1-0 Bullard lead

The Panthers added on with one out in the second inning, when Nolan Rose singled and stole second base.

Two batters later, Steve Langston ripped an RBI-single in to left field and the 2-0 lead. Bullard rightfielder, Kirk Bryant drove a triple down the right field line to crank up the fourth inning. Koby Greene was next, with an RBI-double followed up by a Buckeye error in left field, to set up another.

Nolan Rose added a 2-for-3, with two RBI’s to go with Bryant’ triple.

Panther catcher, Steve Langston went 2-for-4 with two crucial RBI’s.

Gilmer took advantage of a lead off double by Dustin Hardin, and scored on two errors by Bullard on the same play, to bring Hardin in to score.

Mikey Wilson kept the inning rolling with a single, and cruised in on a two-run homerun smash by Luke Turner to dead leftfield, and a 3-3 tie.

Dustin Hardin went the distance on the mound for Gilmer, striking out eight , walking five, and surrendering nine hits in the loss.

“We have got two more tough road games, and if we stay focused, I think we can finish up strong,” siad head coach, Ronnie Dent.

The Panthers will entertain Tatum on Tuesday. Gilmer travels to Chapel Hill on Tuesday.
