Panthers take down the Bears

M.D. ‘Doc’ Smith

BULLARD - LSUbound right-hander, Nick Rumbelow, struck out nine and walked none in a 10-0 shutout over Gladewater, in District 17-3A baseball at Panther Field on Tuesday.

Koby Greene started the scoring for Bullard in the first inning, reaching on his first of two hits and was later brought in to score on a Nolan Rose single.

A big six run, third inning highlighted by a two- RBI single from Tanner Bailey, a two-RBI single by catcher Steve Langston and a two-RBI by Trevor Rumbelow, made it a 7-0 game. Ryan Wood slapped an RBI-single in the fourth inning, before Nick Rumbelow ended the game as his grounder was misplayed and got through the infield, to score two runs to end the game, via the tenrun mercy-rule.

Wood was the lone Panther with multiple hits, adding a RBI single to his sixth-inning double.

Dakota Mize and the Edwards double were the only Bears hits off Rumbelow.
