Bullard residents gathered to honor Dr. Marjorie Roper at the health clinic newly renamed in her honor Thursday, April 1.

The Bullard Chamber of Commerce sponsored a ribbon cutting ceremony at the former Christus House Clinic, now known as the Dr. Marjorie Roper Christus House Clinic, located at 307 W. Cain St.

“I want to thank all of you for coming out for this special occasion,” Dr. Roper said.

The clinic board of directors attended the event, including Bill and Frances Cox, Paul and Peggy Fitch, Hazel Mason and Richard and Martha Dinwiddy. Others attending included Daisy Stevens, clinic director, Jan Verzosa and Chamber and city officials, including Bullard Mayor Teresa Adams-Wilks.

“I thank God for Marjorie,” Mason said. “Everything inside this building (the clinic) has been donated and we thank you.”

Additionally, the fourth annual Game Day fundraiser honoring Dr. Roper will be Monday, April 19, at Eagle’s Bluff Country Club.

(Banner Staff Photos by Don Treul) Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and play will be a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Registration for games will be at 9 a.m. and lunch is slated to start at 11:30 a.m.

Games will include Bridge, Mah Jongg, 42, cards or dominoes.

Golf prizes will be awarded to the first three teams, the longest drive, closest-to-the-pin and “farthest from-the-hole.”

There also will be a 2010 GMC Sierra Crew Cab pickup from Hall Buick GMC awarded for a holein one. The value of the truck is $31,560.

Individual entry will be $100, lunch only will cost $25 and game table participation will cost $35 (includes salad bar lunch).
