BULLARD - Lindale’s Justin Copeland may not have hit the long bombs he has become well known for.
The senior centerfielder for the Eagles, however, slapped two timely two-run doubles to lead to a 4-2 win at Panther Field on Friday night.
Seven hits combined between the two teams, and two errors each played into the Eagles win. as several hard-hit Panther balls were hit right at the Eagles defense.
Lindale starting pitcher, Josh Stoffregen allowed only four hits and struckout four, in going the distance for the win on the mound.
Bullard fireballer, Nick Rumbelow allowed only three hits and struckout nine in the loss. Two of those, however, were two-RBI singles by Lindale’s Copeland.
Above, shortstop Bri Kirkland rips a single for the Lady Panthers in their recent loss to Spring Hill. Kirkland reached base three times in the game and scored twice for the Lady Panthers in the district opening setback.
The two winning runs for the Eagles came on a double-steal and passed ball.
Freshman, Trevor Rumbelow had the lone extra base hit of the game in the third inning, but was left stranded.
The Panthers (11-4) will have opened district play at home on Tuesday night against Gilmer, after press deadline.
Bullard will take to the road on Friday for another District 17-3A encounter at Tatum, with a 7 p.m. start scheduled.
