KILGORE - The Bullard Panthers baseball team got a big wake-up call this past weekend, winning one game and losing three.

Hallsville took the Panthers down on Thursday morning in the 9 a.m. game, with a 3-0 setback for the Panthers.

Tanner Bailey gave up the loss on the mound, as the Panthers bats made contact but hit too many ‘at-em’ balls that the Bobcats made easy work of, defensively.

Bullard came back to defeat Crosby on Friday, 9-1, on only three hits. Four Crosby errors and an eight-run third inning ended the game early.

The Panthers bats then took the rest of the tourney off on Saturday, as they started the afternoon with a 11-0 loss to Pleasant Grove, due to lack of effort, according to head coach Ronnie Dent.

“The last two games were identical,” said Dent, “ A lack of hitting, and our pitching let us down. Pretty simple.

Hopefully the kids will get their heads screwed back on, and we will get back to the fundamentals that have made us a really good team when we stay focused ,and the newspaper guy stays out of the dugout!” Dent laughed..

Pine Tree then played the Panthers right after the Pleasant Grove loss, and pounded Bullard, 17-2.

Bullard plays at Kilgore again on Tuesday. Hopefully, Kilgore will be allowing Press Passes to be admitted on Tuesday, and the BBN will have the story and even pictures.

The Panthers (7-3) hope to get the train back on track, in the I-20 Classic in Van this upcoming weekend.
