Lady Panthers softball struggles in Center tourney; three tough losses against ranked teams

CENTER – The Lady Panthers softball team is still searching for some answers, in time for district play set to begin Tuesday, March 16, after dropping three games in the Center Tournament this past weekend.

Alto handed Bullard the first setback on Thursday, with a 5-3 win over the Lady Panthers.

A 3-2 score after one inning changed in the second inning, as the Lady ‘Jackets scored the final two game-winning runs.

Bri Kirkland and Chelsea Foreman were 1- for-2 and scored once, while Ashley Gwartney went 1-for-1 with an RBI.

Center bested the Lady Panthers 10-0 in the second game, as Ashlee Shidler picked up the lone hit for Bullard. Kirkland turned a double-play to give Bullard their defensive highlight of the game.

Mount Enterprise scored two runs in the first inning and two more in the third stanza, for a 4-0 win. Foreman picked up the only hit for Bullard (1-9).

The Lady Panthers played at Crossroads on Tuesday, after press deadline. Bullard plays at Henderson on Friday at 6 p.m.

The Lady Panthers next home game is set for Friday, March 15 when district play continues with Spring Hill coming to town.
