Key Club members spent about two hours with each kindergarten and first-grade classes. Students participated in rhyming word crafts and sight-word BINGO. With 34 members participating, two Key Club members were able to attend each of the classrooms.

Key Club members who were with the kindergarten classes helped the students in making rhyming crowns in which they chose their favorite rhyming words and colored their crowns.

Key Club members who were with the first grade classes led the students in playing the ABC Game which they broke into small groups.

The students chose a letter and then were given a category. They wrote things that started with that letter that were in the category. Both grades played BINGO with their sight-words. The prizes for the winners were book markers.

Finally, Key Club members donated a set of 10 books and the BINGO games to each of the classrooms. “When you walk into the room, the little kids see that you can read, write and spell; seeing that makes them want to be like you. It’s a great feeling to help a child learn,” said Breanna Hinton, a BHS senior member.

With a total of 102.5 hours, the Bullard High School Key Club called the project a success in serving their community.
