Police chief offers warning for citizens
Bullard Police Chief Gary Don Lewis offered a warning to residents regarding home visits.
The U.S. Census will be making visits regarding census forms, but Lewis said others have taken advantage of some residents.
Lewis said U.S. Census takers will only use the information on the forms. Residents should be careful of anyone who asks for additional information.
“They shouldn’t be asking anything personal,” Lewis said. “I wouldn’t give any information, such as a drivers li- cense or Social Security numbers.”
Lewis said anyone who is selling products or services must obtain a peddling permit from the city. According to Lewis, representatives from Reliant Energy have applied for and received a permit to offer an energy savings plan to residents who wish to obtain such a plan.
“Reliant will not be out after dark,” Lewis said. “They should be around during normal business hours.”
If anyone has questions regarding home visits, Lewis said to call the Bullard Police Department at (903) 566-6600.
