Johnson files for city council

RODGER JOHNSON RODGER JOHNSON Rodger Johnson filed as a candidate for the Bullard City Council.

Johnson served on the city council from 2004 through 2009 before he entered the race for Bullard Mayor. The election had one of, if not the largest voter turnout in the city’s history, and Johnson failed by 50 votes in his bid for the office of mayor.

While a member of the city council, Johnson served for two years as mayor protem.

“After much prayer and consideration, I decided to announce my candidacy for a place on the city council,” he said. “If elected, I would be proud to serve and be a voice for the future of Bullard.”

Johnson, 56, owns Johnson Financial Group in Bullard and is a board certified financial planner. He also owns the Bent Tree Ranch in Bullard and the Bullard Town Center. His wife, Crystal, and daughter, Cristen, own and operate Cristen’s Clothing and Accessories in Bullard. The couple also have a son, Jonathan.

“My main focus is to attract businesses; retail as well as industry,” Johnson said. “Businesses that complement each other.”

Johnson is a music director and adult Sunday School teacher at Grace Baptist Church in Bullard.
